Last week Dennis and I had the privilege of interviewing Deanna Wilmore, whose husband Butch returned on Tuesday from the International Space Station. He and another astronaut flew to the space station last June on an eight-day mission, but technical issues turned it into a nine-month sojourn. Butch and three other astronauts finally returned to cheers and tears from friends, family, and many across the entire nation who watched the splash-down live on TV.
Since I’ve been working on a book about disappointment with God, I was interested to hear Deanna tell us how she coped with the stress of her husband's job and the constantly changing dates for his return. Deanna and Butch are strong believers, but faith doesn't mean we don't experience fear and uncertainty. As the interview progressed, Deanna became more comfortable and she shared more honestly about her fears, the difficulty of circumstances out of her control, and the challenges her teenage girls faced without their dad.
I hope you enjoy this interview on the YouTube channel, Inspiring Courageous Faith. And be sure to subscribe so you'll continue to hear all the podcasts Dennis is posting! He has some great guests lined up and some really helpful teaching too.
Courageous waiting indeed! I could barely cope with waiting while my husband is at easy. Imagine this kind of waiting. Praise God for strength and courage and the sweet homecoming, finally.
