Do you wish you saw evidence of God working more often?
Do you hear others tell stories about God’s hand at work and feel left out?
On Resurrection morning, when all the women went to the tomb, the angel told them to go report what they’d seen and heard to the disciples (Matthew 28:1-8).
What had they seen and heard?
The women saw the huge stone moved.
They saw an empty tomb.
They saw soldiers scattered.
They saw angels who spoke to them.
Some of them even saw the newly resurrected Jesus and touched Him!
They heard the voices of the angels and the voice of Jesus!
Imagine their joy and eagerness to share the supernatural things they’d seen and heard! But when they hurried to fulfill the command of the angels, imagine their surprise when many did not believe their report. Luke 24:11 says, “And these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them” (NASB). And Mark 16:11 says, “They refused to believe it.”
Have you ever dismissed someone’s story as nonsense? How many times have you said out loud as did the disciples, “That can’t be true, I don’t believe it”? Perhaps more politely you only thought it because you didn’t want to offend.
But you, too, chose not to believe.
Unbelief is a cancer to our faith.
