If you know even superficially the stories of Narnia you might remember the scene in The Lion , the Witch, and the Wardrobe in which Aslan chooses to allow himself to be captured, tied to the stone table and killed by the White Witch. Most storylines in the best books, like these by C.S. Lewis, include a struggle between good and evil. Today, when a national or local tragedy occurs we are confronted with the reality of evil, but when the crisis takes a back seat in the news cycle we move on as if the darkness doesn’t exist. Evil’s presence in this world is confusing and unpleasant.
Even though we don’t like to talk about Satan much in our day, he is a crucial part of the story we are living on earth. And it’s important to know who he is. Having just watched the Crucifixion of Jesus, the disciples were very aware of the presence and the power of Satan.
