Do you like new?
As in a new recipe, a new book to read, or a new slipcover (which I’m waiting on for our 30-year-old couch which badly needs a new exterior), the word “new” defines non-tangibles such as new beginnings like this new year, a new job, or a new friendship. What is new for you?
Sometimes new isn’t something brand new but something refreshed or redeemed or re-ordered, something salvaged and repurposed like old frames, castoff tools, or used books.
In early January this new year Dennis and I found ourselves at home when we were supposed to be babysitting two of our grands. I also found myself enduring a second round of bronchitis which forced me to stay home even more. Many of those days I had enough energy to avoid laying on the couch all day, but not enough to tackle a writing project or refinishing a chair project.
