Last month I hinted in my newsletter that we still needed prayer for a “season of darkness that has been punctuated with intermittent rays of God’s divine intervention.” I added at the end, “I’m eager to share the wonders He’s done. We are trusting Him for a resolution we can celebrate.”
I want to thank those of you who prayed for us not knowing why. I still can’t explain the story as I’d hoped. Gratefully we have a resolution and we are on the other side, but I realize now it is too soon to share details. Because of social media we live in a world that expects to know all. But timing is crucial—something our instant culture undervalues but our God values supremely. I’m surrendering to the wisdom of others knowing it is the wisdom of God. Prudence is a virtue.
Another virtue God values is the practice of Sabbath.
Sabbath is not just another word for Sunday, but it is also a gift, a part of who God is Himself, a mystery. Years ago, as an always-tired young mom of four little ones I discovered the idea of a day of rest in the Old Testament. I was very intrigued because if I was sure of anything, it was that I needed rest!
