I hope you enjoy this video I made with my husband, Dennis. He is gearing up to launch a new video podcast and we thought it would be fun to jump on here and show you the heart banner and share a little back story. But if you want to know without watching below is an overview on the return of one of our top 10 bestselling products.
It's hard to know what to do with Valentine's Day with your kids because it's been marketed as a romantic holiday. It's all about going to dinner and roses and romantic love.
But when you look at the whole concept of love, it goes back to the Bible. 1 John 4:8 tells us God is love. It also tells us that we love because He first loved us.
So I felt like there was a need to have something to do with your kids that was about love but not about romantic love.
And of course, the answer to that is teaching them to love the way God talks about loving and that's found in 1 Corinthians 13 ... Love is patient ... love is kind ... love does not get provoked, etc.
When I began thinking about how to teach about love I thought, “How often do you hear love talked about in those terms?” We can teach our kids in the Valentine season what love is really all about by using 1 Corinthians 13.
The How Do I Love Thee Heart Banner takes the truth of the Bible and tells a story with a practical application that your families can enjoy applying immediately.
And it's a way to teach your family to love the way God wants us to love.
Fifteen hearts come in this kit, each with text to read to your family. The first is a summary from 1 John 4:8. We love because Christ first loved us, and that heart is hung in the middle of the twine.
The rest of the hearts come from 1 Corinthians 13. You can place all the hearts at once and remove one each day to count down to Valentine’s Day, or you can add one each day to form a complete banner by Valentine’s Day.
I hope you order the How Do I Love Thee Heart Banner from our Etsy store. It’s a great resource to go through with your kids!
