At my core I’m an artist who is slow to show others my work in progress.

I admittedly fear criticism. Sharing a partially completed painting with someone else’s eyes is a risk. They cannot see what my vision is, where I’m headed with this work. It puts them in a hard spot. Do they lie and say it’s wonderful when it appears a complete mess? Do I hurriedly put into words what I’m envisioning?

One day my dear husband, who is not at all like me, proudly declared to a friend of ours that I was writing a book on disappointment with God. There was no time to elaborate or explain what the concept was about. He simply laid it on the table.
