
I intended for this second report about my recovery from a fall and a broken bone to be titled, “Lessons From a Walker” to show my progress from wheelchair to walker. The word lessons appeals to my strong desire to see or at least guess what God’s purposes might be. “Lessons learned” gives me a sense of control so I can share new learnings, which therefore implies a purpose behind God allowing this to happen in my life. Naming a cause/effect gives me a sense of power, almost as if it was I who granted Him permission to let me crash on the pavement.
But I much prefer to be a partner with God rather than feeling like His pawn in some chess match. Since I don’t have a list of lessons learned, this report is now a collection of observations only.
