Rainey Family Overnight French Toast
What’s for Christmas breakfast? In case you still need an idea for a special yummy treat, try our family’s Overnight French Toast. We made this every year for holiday brunch when our kids were young. Hope you enjoy it too! Prepare it the night before, stick it in the fridge, and it’s ready to pop in the oven on Christmas morning.
½ cup margarine
1½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
8-12 slices of bread
8-9 eggs
pinch of salt
1¾ to 2 cups milk
Melt margarine in a 9x13 pan. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and stir. Layer bread on top of the mixture. Beat eggs and salt together, then add milk. Pour the milk and egg mixture over bread. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight. The next morning, uncover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cut into squares and place upside down on plate so melted sugar/cinnamon is on top. Don’t forget the cup of hot chocolate or coffee!
