Dear friends and followers,
As October is nearing its end, sadly I might add, I wanted to remind you in case you didn't know that November is National Adoption Month. And before you hit “delete” because you think this doesn’t apply to you ...
Before all the holiday pressure overwhelms you, take a few minutes to think about those you know who have adopted children or who are doing foster care. Most of these couples and families are real heroes and they need our encouragement and support.
A very simple action is to mail a card to someone you know who has recently adopted or to someone who is fostering children, just to congratulate, encourage, and pray for them. It's never an easy road and discouragement can be a daily companion.
In our Etsy store we have two beautiful cards you can print and mail or give to someone in your church or neighborhood. Clicking any image will take you directly to our store.
Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” And that is true of adoption and foster care, too. I'm attaching a link to a movie we watched, “Sound of Hope”, that is extremely well done and tells an adoption story that is both miraculous and heart-warming. It would be a good family night movie if your kids are 10-12 and older. (The caution is only because some of the real-life circumstances of these foster children might be difficult for young ones to watch.)
Remember those families in your church or community who are living in this space and then get started on those annual holiday recipes!
Happy November!
