I was working outside on a glorious spring day when out of nowhere I started thinking of the words to an old Easter song by Irving Berlin that I remember from my childhood: “In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, You’ll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.”
When I was young in 50’s , I remember getting a new dress for Easter but it was the only new dress for the year. My parents couldn’t afford more than that once a year for my two sisters and myself. We had to wear a hat too- a bonnet and then a sailor brim one as I got older.
You have given me a good
idea here for my granddaughters and great granddaughters - I’ll buy them each a white sweater or shawl to wear on Easter.
It is not hard to lose focus on the significance of important things in our lives because they have become routine.
We spend Easter much like the way we spend our Sundays. The difference is the Easter theme of the church service, our family devotion and movie we watch.

Dear Barbara,
Thank you for sharing.
