One of my great faults, which shows up regularly in our marriage, is my first-born perfectionism turned on my husband as “helping.” Sometimes it happens when he’s telling a story and doesn’t get the details right as I remember them and I correct him. (By the way, I do work hard not to correct publicly.)
A year and a half ago, after 37 years of marriage, my husband and I were that couple. But God has redeemed our marriage. Our love is stronger and more beautiful than it was before the betrayal. I am amazed at what God has done. And very, very thankful for all the healing that has occurred. We are changed people- both of us.
Well said. I can attest to words softly spoken, and learning to not HAVE to always be right, gave us 73 years together....wonderful years. (And I was the youngest!!)
