Thank you so very much- I’ve been living abroad volunteering for the Lord for 17 years now but since I’m almost 50 I’ve been feeling discouraged especially when I see my friends and family back home in their beautiful and immaculate homes. Not sure if menopause is playing with my mind and of course the devil. Where I am serving now I see poverty and filth everywhere and I’m feeling discouraged but your words have given me something to think about and work on. I am truly grateful for your words of encouragement.

Your reply and comment to my post reminds me of Corrie ten Boom's book, The Hiding Place, and one of my favorite stories she tells. Betsie, when they were in one of the pre-Ravensbrook prisons, organized all the women in her cell and helped them all hang up their coats and most memorable was she hung a piece of red ribbon on the dark concrete wall. It was a touch of beauty in a dank depressing place and reminded me that even a little beauty in this case a red ribbon was enough to cheer the women and lighten the hardship of their circumstances. And in your place of serving a little beauty in your home will encourage you and any you invite in to share your space. Beauty is a quality of God and a reflection of Him.

So my encouragement is to find a way to bring a little beauty and light or brightness to what God has given you and called you to. There will be plenty of immaculate big mansions in heaven!

Grateful for your service to the Lord where He has called you. One day you will hear "Well done my good and faithful daughter!" Thanks for writing.

Barbara
